5:30 to 6:30 pm – Art Competition
Be captivated by our artists as they unveil and present their artwork to our judges from the Biomedical Communications Program in either the digital (e.g., digital art, animation, etc.) or non-digital art categories (paintings, sculptures, etc.).
6:30 to 7:45 pm – Keynote & Panel Discussion
Join us for a captivating keynote address by Sonya Amin, visual science communicator who founded AXS Studio. Followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring experts: Dr. Jodie Jenkinson, Dr. Allison Crawford, and Heather Brown, whose collective expertise will shine a light on how art enriches learning, communicates complex, health narratives, and offers therapeutic benefits.

7:45 to 8:15 pm – Networking & Art Gallery Viewing
Connect with like-minded individuals, from fellow participants to esteemed speakers. Build bridges between art and science, fostering collaboration and inspiration.
8:15 to 8:30 pm – Awards Ceremony & Closing Remarks
Lastly, be part of an awards ceremony that honors the art pieces that best exemplified the transformative power of art in communicating science. Awards include best digital art, best non-digital art, and the people’s choice award – allowing participants at the Symposium to choose their favourite art piece.
